Paulus Marquet

At the crossroads of sculpture and the natural world, Paulus Marquet’s work explores lightness, movement, and balance through metal. Inspired by nature and direct gesture, his practice gives rise to refined, sensitive, and architectural forms designed to engage with space.

Paulus Marquet was born in 1983 in Rennes, France, and graduated in Applied Arts from ENSAAMA Olivier de Serres – DMA metal section.

He develops metal sculptures with clean lines, inspired by the plant world. Nourished by wanderings among trees, wild grasses, branches moved by the wind, stretched towards the light or fallen to the ground, his creations reveal their finesse, poetry and delicate complexity.

He works with steel in direct carving. Each of his pieces is the result of a search for balance between curves and volumes, like a line of ink suspended in space.

No casting process is involved: each sculpture, unique, is worked with flame and tools, then patinated. His aesthetic explorations evolve through collections of sculptures, designed to interact with architecture.

In addition to freestanding sculptures, he develops collections for walls and ceilings.
