Conceived as a sanctuary inviting visitors into an art-exclusive experience, the Galleries pioneer authentic and art-led living environments, designed to resonate elegantly with the exhibited works and give the visitors both the feeling of a home and the wonder of finding themselves in a timeless place. Nestled in the ancient town of Volterra, Tuscany, where the richness of the Etruscan civilization equals the incredible vastness of wild nature, the Galleries’ main venue is located in the XV-century Palazzo Bonomini, punctuated by a sophisticated and elegant atmosphere of warm neutral tones.
Since 2019, they have been engaging in a major restoration project of the Palazzo undertaken by the esteemed Tuscan restorer Cristiano Sabelli following the vision of founder Olga Niescier, unveiling its ancient walls, working with artisans, and using natural materials and local stones. Pursuing the criteria of the preservation of the authentic atmosphere and restoring the bond between history and contemporaneity, the traces left by the passage of time, the secrets, and the whispers of the architecture are now unveiled.
KALPA works with emerging and established artists and makers from many disciplines offering a kaleidoscope of diverse cultural backgrounds, inspirations, and techniques and converging with a diorama of wall and sculptural artworks. Crafted from an organic blend of materials – alabaster, marble, bronze, clay, raw earth, wood, glass, oil, and mixed media, art objects are presented to visitors to become part of their everyday lives.
The Galleries specialises in art consultancy both for private and public spaces, assisting interior designers and architects in the selection of perfectly integrated art and embarking on advisory projects with clients with whom we share our aesthetic vision. Since their inception, they have collaborated with an extensive roster of art consultancy with projects found in prestigious destinations, from Aman New York to Molteni&C showrooms, as well as participated in key international events such as the Milan Design Week.
About Olga Niescier, KALPA Founder and Art Director
Olga Niescier (1978) is a Polish artist, designer and curator. She obtained her diploma in Fine Arts and Fashion Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz and later specialized in Fashion Design at the Polimoda Institute in Florence. Since 2001 Niescier has been carrying on an intense interdisciplinary artistic activity, integrating design, fashion, visual and performative arts. Painting is the field in which the artist expresses herself with the most passion and dedication: her artwork is a meditative exploration of Nature’s structures and rhythms, an insight into botanical micro-universes, and a personal encounter with Zen philosophy and abstract expressionism. KALPA Galleries is Niescier’s ultimate creative and aesthetic experience, encompassing her vision as an artist, manager, and designer. It symbolizes the perfect and balanced sum of her academic and professional career, the result (and the answer) of a fluid passage from years of intense experience and training on art and aesthetic trends toward the creation of an ideal space of art living, a place where the architecture, the art, and the human come together in harmony.
