Aurore Pélisson
After graduating from the École Nationale des Beaux Arts de Lyon in 2009, textile artist Aurore Pélisson moved to London, where she developed artistic collaborations with Saint Martin’s School of Arts, among others. In 2011, she returned to her native Provence and opened her own textile studio in Avignon.
Always searching for textures, techniques and prints that reflect her utopias, Aurore Pélisson works to make visible our intrinsic connection with the living world. Aurore’s work is visceral, invoking our organic matter: giving us the opportunity to see and feel a different aesthetic, a different way of looking at things, less polished, less straightforward.
A vision in osmosis with “the flesh of our bodies, the flesh of our earth”, warm and alive.
This vision is brought to life through healthy materials, scaled to the size of our own bodies. She prefers to work with raw plants, using vegetable dyes. Her practice is constantly evolving in line with her goal – an ode to the living.
Let’s enjoy looking at and touching the organic nature of our world.
Manon Monge
I walk around and observe the plants, the “weeds”, the underestimated twigs, I pick them, dry them under the shed,
Then, when the time comes, I pick them up and do something with them – I don’t know what, it just happens.
Weaving, weaving, weaving grasses and wild twigs,
giving shape to space and time, using ancestral materials.
Repeating gestures and eternal stitches,
bringing the past back into the present, with a new, unique, personal perspective.
Transforming plant matter by following its will, its curve.
ode to presence
time for things, time for things
space for things, availability for things
tuned to the disposition, available to the unexpected
time and space, full – empty
filled with little things that fill the emptiness and make the big whole.
the contemplation of time
present and future, ode to the present.
knots – points – the connection
slow and sure
the connection to oneself, the connection to others
weaving – braiding – encircling – gathering – assembling
making one, reuniting.
