Following the publication of my dissertation on the BAUHAUS movement in 1970, I became a press agent for the arts and crafts and furniture sectors, and at the same time took part in drawing courses. My passion for line led me to study calligraphy, then ink painting. I found myself at the heart of Asian culture with the Korean Master UNG NO LEE.
My first works, mixing influences between East and West, were exhibited by minimalist interior designers in the development of their projects. Introduced to Japanese consultants, I was sometimes invited to represent the cultural relations between our two countries. It was in this context that I entered the world of WABI SABI: a philosophy that has accompanied me through many trials, to the point of applying its principles and benefits to my work as an artist.
This is how I like to look at the beauty of simple, fragile, ephemeral things, which are then precious to savor, and to keep within oneself. I spontaneously applied the Japanese principle of NAGORI, which means “The imprint of the waves” and evokes the trace of what is already no more… Over time, the titles of some of my exhibitions and collaborations have reflected the spirit of my work.
