Muriel Blanc Duret is a textile artist. She founded her studio, Tributs, in Aubusson in 2023. There, she blends the French tapestry tradition with techniques from around the world to explore new paths in excellence weaving. She works with locally spun wool and precious threads left aside by workshops and manufacturers, without material excess. She values detail, precision, and balance. She embraces the strange and the singular. She draws inspiration from humanity — timeless and universal.

Her memories of the East, her encounter with a tribe in a museum, and many other things gave rise to an overwhelming desire to learn how to weave.

After a career as a consultant in commercial and office architecture, Muriel Blanc Duret went to Aubusson to train in the art of excellence. She set up her design and tapestry studio, tributs, there in 2023 and has since been exploring new pathways in French-style artistic weaving.

She is inventing new combinations from existing techniques and tools, skilfuly shaping the woven work into forms, so that both sides are as close as twins.
She is greatly amused by words, concepts, stitches, points of view, practices.

She is weaving with what is, around. Natural French wool, spun locally ; but also, precious yarns neglected by the surrounding workshops and manufactures. Without overusing the material.
She is loving the details, the precision, the radicality.

Cherishing strange and uniqueness.

Her works are unique pieces that seek not to impress but to create a presence.
