Xavier SERVAS

After studying Fine Arts at the Université Paris 8 and Object Design at the Arts Décoratifs de Paris and the HFG Karlsruhe, I worked as a designer and maker in Vietnam, France and Belgium. I am interested in ancient or even forgotten handicraft techniques, which I confront with the contemporary context.

I am engaged in applied experimental research, especially nourished by archaeology and ethnology.

This approach is motivated by the conviction that materials developed before the advent of the industrial age have technical properties that can respond to contemporary issues, but also by the desire to develop a poetic formal language based on notions of timelessness and imperfection.
